Do you like reading poetry? Do you enjoy listening to acoustic music with friends? Is a cup of slow-roasted coffee in your future? Well, if you answered yes to any of the questions above, then you are in luck! This Friday, the English Honors Society Sigma Tau Delta will be hosting its second annual Open Mic Night at Lift Coffee Roasters in Uptown from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The theme for this Open Mic Night is “Lonely Hearts,” in celebration of Valentine’s Day, or rather, in celebration for those who might not have had a special someone. The event will be headlined by the acoustic guitar group Plasma Dreams, headed by one of our very own, fourth-year Adrian Garcia. The first Open Mic Night put on by Sigma Tau Delta last November at Lift Coffee was a huge success, with the entire coffee shop filled wall-to-wall with students and members of the community. The entertaining atmosphere of the event and the artistic performances can be a great way to de-stress from the start of the new semester. If you are interested in attending the next Open Mic Night or joining the roster, you can sign up online via a link sent from the Student-L as soon as possible, or at Lift the day of the event, Feb. 16. Bring your tissues!
