Senate-in-Brief: Sept. 29, 2016

I Committee Updates:

A. Senators will attend Sexual Assault and Title IX Training Sunday, November 6th. 

B. Budget Committee is now meeting at 12 p.m. on Mondays. 

C. According to Athletics, there are not enough student workers at the weight room to keep it open for longer periods of time. If work study students are interested and want to             work, the weight room can possibly stay open until 10 p.m. 

II First Readings:

A. The Palmer Society requested $150 for Open House.

B. The Ionian Society requested $150 for Rush.

III Daily Calendar Considerations:

A. The Athenian Society was funded in the requested amount of $11,356.97 for lunA.

B. First-Year Class Council was funded in the requested amount of $1500 for a class trip to Disneyland.

C. The Athenian Society was funded in the requested amount of $150 for Rush.

D. The Palmers have been funded in the requested amount of $4523.68 for Poet Palooza.

E. MEChA has been funded in the requested amount of $3950 for Brindis/Posada Navideña and $5250 for their annual Tardeadas

F. The Franklin Society was funded in the requested amount of $150 for Rush.

G. The Spanish Honors Society’s request for tickets to The Man of La Mancha was not funded.

IV Misc. business:

A. Rep. McMurray read proposed amendments to the Small Enviornmental Footprint Act so that it includes more than just water conservation.

B. Sen. Scurr asked for opinions/alternatives to the current issue of community charges.

C. Sen. Brown attended the POWER meeting and the FSP workers were very excited to see Senators supporting them.
