Dear Whittier College Community,
For many people on campus, the election did not pan out the way we thought it would. We at the The Quaker Campus understand that many students are feeling distressed and shocked by the election results on Tuesday night.
Though the future may seem scary for some of us, we are the Millennials. We are the youngest generation who can now, more than ever, be politically active. We are the most college educated generation of all time. With knowledge comes power, and with power comes the ability to change our world for the better. No matter who you are, you are a human being, and as such, you are valid and worthy. One day, you will make America a country of equality and peace. It all starts with a little change.
Many of us have become overwhelmed by the national media and our own personal social media accounts, where people are lashing out, invalidating others, and even harassing peers. We do not condone such behavior.
As one of the main sources of media on campus, we at The Quaker Campus want you to know that we are here to provide you with the opportunity to freely express your views. Regardless of your political stances, your voice deserves to be heard. What you think and how you feel matters.
We represent the voice of the campus. Some core values at Whittier College are to support one another, accept one another, and come together in love and understanding. The staff at The Quaker Campus supports people of any and all minority groups, and we seek to validate all opinions and concerns. For anybody in the Whittier community looking for a place to express concern, ask questions, or to reach out to other members of our community, The Quaker Campus is an open and objective place to speak out. Let your voices be heard. Please contact us at email@example.com.
