Starting college is a milestone for new students and can be a difficult transition to make, but the Orientation Staff here at Whittier College have been working hard to make it simple and exciting.  Orientation day,  Sept. 2, is packed with various sessions in order to business done before Welcome Week begins Sept. 4.

Tuesday will be the Dub-C Block Party where new first year students can interact with other students on campus. The party will have a DJ, photo booth, rock climbing wall, trampoline bungee, and dinner, available from 6-10 pm for students to enjoy before the school year begins.

Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee will be provided on Wednesday morning as students begin their first day. Stop by the Upper Quad from 7:30 -10:30 a.m. Get your treats while supplies last. Program Board and WCtheRock will be collaborating on the event and will be offering opportunity drawings for a HydroFlask, $25 Amazon gift card, and a $25 Starbucks gift card. If you are at the event and follow Program Board on social media, you can receive a free portable charger.

The popular game, Bubble Soccer, will be returning on Thursday, Sept. 6, from 12-3 p.m. Program Board will also have hats that will be given away at the event. Friday will be a video game night from 7-9 p.m., featuring a Nintendo Switch and a collaboration with Residential Life and their virtual reality simulator console. Refreshments will be served to help students recharge as they play through the night.

Sept. 8, is the day of the Santa Monica excursion. To spend the weekend at the beach, students must secure a spot with a $5 refundable deposit. Transportation will be provided to the beach and back to campus. Spots are limited, so be sure to take a few minutes from the first day of school, Sept. 5, to register via Orgsync.

An itinerary has been made available for everyone to keep up with the events from any mobile device. To follow along with the schedule for Orientation day and keep up with events, be sure to download the Guidebook App and find the Whittier College New Student and Family Guide.
